Accreditation November 2016

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of CMEsolutions and AMMG. The CMEsolutions is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The CMEsolutions designates this live activity for a maximum of 26 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The CMEsolutions is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program is approved for 26.0 contact hours (2.600 CEUs).  ACPE Program Number: 0274-9999-16-012-L04-P

This activity has been submitted to the Western Multi-State Division for approval to award nursing contact hours. The Western Multi-State Division is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

For more information regarding contact hours, please call Shirlene DeHart, 520-544-2938.

This learning activity will help close these educational gaps:

Need to provide participants with increased knowledge of the science of the telomere biology, including the basic science and science of telomere biology and why telomere is important to the aging process how to maintain and measure telomere and how telomere is important to certain disorders of aging such as cancer, cardiovascular and pulmonary disease.

Need to learn clinical lifestyle modification techniques which clinicians can then implement into patient care programs with the goal of improving patient outcomes.

Need to understand the link between traumatic brain injury and the disruption of neurosteroid and hormone production and how this causes an inflammatory environment and subsequent impairment in cognition and behavior in those patients with various levels of TBI. In addition, there are significant changes in laboratory testing, lab interpretations and treatment protocols that need to be discussed.

Need to further the participants’ knowledge and provide a comprehensive understanding of the evidence-based science behind the use of hormones, and the clinical protocols for best-practice use of hormone replacement therapy when medically indicated to optimize health and provide superior patient outcomes.

Need to provide clinicians with updates on current treatments and new scientific protocols in many areas of interest to age management practitioners, such as Epigenetics, Microbiomme & Aging, Endothelial Dysfunction, Brain Health and Fibromyalgia.

The overall purpose of this CME activity is:

Provide physicians and healthcare practitioners with a relaxed, professional environment conducive to the educational process where they will be provided evidence-based education by credentialed experts, most of whom have clinical experience in the area of Age Management Medicine. This educational experience will take the form of didactic lecture, and audience interactive question & answer sessions. Attendees will be provided relevant clinically based content on a variety of topics in Age Management Medicine, including Telomere Biology, Lifestyle Modification Techniques, Hormones and Hormone Replacement Protocols, Preventive Medicine, and disorders of aging such as Brain Health. When formulating an educational curriculum, the AMMG Planning Committee always places emphasis on providing evidence-based content that clinicians can take back to their practice and begin to use immediately following this learning activity.

The educational objectives, based on identified gaps, are:

Describe the science of Telomere Biology; explain how Telomere impacts aging, how it can be measured, and how it can be employed in personalized medical treatment plans.

Identify key aspects of Lifestyle Modification Techniques; describe how they may be utilized to increase communication with patients, positively alter patient behavior, and lead to better outcomes through improved compliance with existing medically sound patient treatment protocols.

Recognize the link between traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the disruption of neurosteroid and hormone production. Explain how this causes an inflammatory environment and subsequent impairment in cognition and behavior in those patients with various levels of TBI. Compare new methods of laboratory testing, lab interpretations and treatment protocols for TBI that can be effective in improving patient outcomes.

Explain the evidence based science behind hormone replacement therapy and when it may be medically indicated as a treatment protocol. Identify new evidence based concepts and studies in the use of hormones and how they may be added to patient treatment programs for better outcomes and increased patient satisfaction.

Discuss new evidence based treatment concepts and scientific protocols in Age Management Medicine such as epigenetics & microbiome, early detection methods for brain health and fibromyalgia treatments, and explain how these can be used to improve patient outcomes.
