The Age Management Medicine Group is proud to offer a Certification in Essential Knowledge in Age Management Medicine. Our goal is to establish a scientific evidence-based educational process culminating in a certification examination whereby healthcare professionals can acquire the essential knowledge involved in the specialty of Age Management Medicine. This Certification is designed to augment, not replace, any existing recognized board examination, and to provide medical professionals with the knowledge that serves as the basis for the skills that they will need to provide superior and cutting edge patient care in Age Management Medicine.

The educational curriculum and examination content for this Certification has been peer-reviewed by a highly qualified and carefully selected Certification Committee to insure that the process is ethical, the educational curriculum is scientifically valid and evidence-based and that the examination and testing process is fair, impartial and meets accepted standards for medical professionals.

Certification in Essential Knowledge in Age Management Medicine elevates the practitioner to a higher standard of reputation and professional development as well as peer recognition in the specialty of Age Management Medicine. Our rigorous and sound certification program ensures that only those truly qualified are awarded designation.

Certification is through the joint sponsorship of the Foundation for Care Management and AMMG and is available to healthcare professionals who hold any of the following degrees from accredited educational institutions: N.D., NMD, PharmD, D.C., P.A., APRN, N.P., R.N., and R.Ph. Other degrees may be considered. (M.D.s and D.O.s should refer to the certification for physicians.)

The process for attaining AMMG Certification is as follows:

• Provide a copy of an active healthcare license issued by a state, province, or country plus a C.V. or resume.
• Have no significant disciplinary actions in the preceding 24 months.
• Current membership in the Age Management Medicine Group (AMMG).
• Have attended and successfully completed a minimum of 20 hours of continuing medical education at AMMG’s Age Management Medicine conferences.
• Be proficient in the extensive educational and review materials provided by AMMG as a preparation for the certification examination.
• Successful completion of a web-based examination. Successful completion of the self study and examination are approved for 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, 15 Nursing Contact Hours, and 15 Hours Pharmacy CE.
• Payment of certification fees.

Certification Examination

Part One of the exam assesses proficiency in several areas of Age Management Medicine with a predominant focus in the areas of:

• Patient evaluation protocols (including laboratory testing, physical and performance evaluations)
• Nutrition and diet
• Fitness and exercise
• Hormone optimization and therapies (including Thyroid, Estrogen, Testosterone, Progesterone, DHEA, DHT, Pregnenolone, Human Growth Hormone, IGF-1, HCG, Insulin, Cortisol, 25-hydroxyvitamin D)
• Nutritional supplementation
• Environment and lifestyle
• Stress-response management
• Preventative medicine protocols including early detection and prevention of the disorders associated with aging, such as cardiac disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, hyperlipidemia, etc.
• Ethical and legal issues and guidelines
• Emerging therapies such as the use of autologous stem cells, emerging diagnostics such as genetic screening, and telomerase
• Other additional content as it relates to Age Management Medicine

Part Two of the exam consists of case presentations with essential knowledge-based questions covering patient evaluation and approaches to appropriate treatment and follow-up.

Applicants who successfully complete the examination for Certification in Age Management Medicine will receive a professional quality embossed certificate of Certification in Essential Knowledge in Age Management Medicine. In addition, graduates will receive a distinctive AMMG Certification logo for placement on their website and marketing materials. Graduates who wish to use the AMMG certification logo and remain listed on the AMMG website must comply with Active Certification requirements.

Certification remains active based on meeting the annual credentialing requirements, which include active membership in AMMG, a minimum of 12 credit hours of Continuing Medical Education yearly at an AMMG Age Management Medicine conference, and payment of the bi-annual certification fee.
